Abandoned baby: suspected parents’ blood samples taken
Rajpura, August 13
To establish the parentage of an abandoned 24-hour-old baby boy, a team of doctors took blood samples of suspected father, mother and the child at the Civil Hospital, Rajpura, here today. The blood samples were later sent to the Central Forensic Science Laboratory, Chandigarh, for DNA tests.
Politicians top in possessing endangered animal articles

Top politicians and industrialists account for largest number of declarations of animal skins/articles made from Punjab under Schedules I and part II of Schedule II of the Wildlife Protection Act. A majority of them have also been issued ownership certificates by the Punjab Wildlife Department.

Blocked sewerage creates problems

The District and Sessions Judge, Mr K.C. Puri, today sentenced a person to life imprisonment for murdering his son and daughter-in-law.
According to sources, convict, Harnek Singh, a resident of Chughe Kalan village,
had some dispute with his son Harvinder Singh and daughter-in-law Paramjeet

2 railway cops convicted for robbery in train

The Ludhiana Judicial Magistrate, Mr Jaspal Verma, has convicted a headconstable of the Government Railway Police, Gurcharan Singh (42), hailing from Kapurthala, on the charges of robbing Ravinder Singh of England and sentenced him to undergo imprisonment for two years.

DAV students go on rampage
