Kashmir issue can stall peace

The ongoing India-Pakistan dialogue cannot move ahead unless "real issues", including Kashmir, are discussed, President Pervez Musharraf said Wednesday.

PM unlikely to visit USA
New Delhi, March 23
Prime Minister Manmohan Singh’s promised bilateral visit to the United States in July this year does not seem to be happening. It is not because of Washington’s denial of visa to Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi despite a strong pitch made for it by the Ministry of External Affairs, but because he would be meeting President George W. Bush twice between May and July, sources said.

New Haryana excise policy fails to block syndicate

The Haryana Government’s new excise policy brought higher revenue at the auctions held today, but it failed to check the re-entry of the syndicate which had been controlling the liquor trade in the state for the past two years.

The Patents (Amendment) Bill today got the nod of Parliament with the Rajya Sabha passing it amidst walkout by the BJP-led NDA, which insisted on referring the Bill to a Standing Committee.
