Scientific exchange between India, Pak stressed
Ludhiana, October 14 Dr Aulakh said the emphasis was being laid on the scientific exchange between the two countries for strengthening the relationships. Dr Aulakh said “the University of Agriculture, Faislabad (Pakistan) was just like the mother of the PAU and we should make this relationship stronger”. Dr Aulakh, while talking to Mr Rana Mohammaf Qasim Noon, Minister for Agricultural Marketing, Pakistan, Mr Aftaab, Ahmed Khan, Parliamentary Secretary, and other members of the Pakistan delegation, said they must bring the delegation, including Pakistani farmers, to attend the PAU kisan mela to be held in March, 2005. Mr Noon, while talking to the Arhtias Association, said it was the responsibility of the arhtias to establish the good relationship between the farmer and the government. Mr Noon had invited the arhtias to Pakistan to meet Pakistani arhtias and give them the information about their role in the field of marketing system. Mr B.K. Singla, President, Arhtia Association, honoured the delegates by presenting them the phulkaris and other gifts. Mr B.K. Singla, in his welcome address, said Pakistan could play an important role in developing the business opportunities with Central Asia and agricultural economy could become stronger through the exchange of technologies. He said the PAU had played an important role in the development of agricultural and marketing system. Dr G.S. Chahal, Additional Director (Research) and Dr P.S. Rangi, senior professor of marketing, were also present. Meanwhile, the convocation and prize distribution function of the College of Home Science will be held on Wednesday on November 3, 2004, at 2.30pm in the Pal Auditorium, PAU, Ludhiana. Dr (Mrs) M.K. Dhillon, Dean of the College of Home Science, said students who had completed their B.Sc. (Home Science) degree in the academic sessions 1999-2000, 2000-01, 2001-02, 2002-03 and 2003-04 were required to attend the rehearsal on November 2, 2004 at 10.00am. Dr (Mrs) Dhillon said 341 graduates of these five years would be awarded degrees while Alka Rani, Gursimran Kaur, Sheetu Arora and Gagandeep Sohal would be honoured by presenting gold medals. Sukhjit Kaur Grewal, Sumedha Ghai and Shweta Sharma would be given Shakun Oswal cash prize for declaring them best athletes during the different years. Miss Shweta Sharma would be given Rupinder Singh Brar memorial prize for its academic achievements. |
Maths seminar concludes
Ludhiana, October 14 Lecturers H.S. Manocha and Pradeep Kapoor coordinated maths seminar whereas Mrs Surinderpal Kaur conducted art and craft seminar. On the concluding day, the teachers exhibited their skills in displaying innovative models related to their topics and subjects. Principal Mrs Usha Sidhu appreciated the works and models of teachers and also lauded Mr H.S. Manocha for bringing out a booklet on “Thoughts of Education”. PCTE team first in Pak fest
Ludhiana, October 14 The PCTE team bagged the overall first position by winning first prizes in dumb charades and duet song, three second prizes in face painting , sell it and short skit and a third prize in turn coat. In dumb charades, Jaskanwal and Aman Dhall won the first prize. Manraj Patar and Gurinderdeep Grewal won first prize in duet song, Ramit Saxena bagged the second position in face painting, Navtej Singh won the second prize in sell it, the skit team bagged the second position while Navtej Singh won the third prize in ‘turn coat’. Ludhiana, October 14 Sapling plantation:
Sapling plantation day was celebrated at Government High School, Salem Tabri, by the Bharat Jan Gyan Vigyan Jatha. Mr Sher Singh Aulakh and Dr Arun Mitra of the jatha said trees played an important role in improving the environment. Saplings were planted by Principal Kamaljit of Government Senior Secondary School, Bharat Nagar.
Mr Malkiat Ram of the school was honoured for spreading greenery. Richa tops M.Ed exam: Manpreet Kaur Bagga got the second position. All 24 students of the college who appeared for the examination got first division. Career guidance:
A seminar was organised by the Department of Commerce at Guru Nanak Girls College, Model Town, today. Dr R.K. Gupta from the Department of Correspondence Studies, Panjab University, delivered a lecture on activity-based costing and career guidance. He told students about career opportunities in various sectors, besides the qualifications required for various jobs and how to acquire them.
NCERT scholarship:
Gagandeep Singh of Class XI of Gujranwala Guru Nanak Khalsa College has been awarded a scholarship by NCERT under the National Talent Search Examination. The scholarship would increase every year depending upon his performance in academic pursuits up to the doctorate level.
