International sports channel, Ten Sports today agreed to provide Doordarshan (DD) signals for the live telecast of the first one day international cricket tie between India and Pakistan tomorrow at Karachi during a late evening hearing by the Supreme Court.

Disabled Rights Group (DRG), a non political advocacy group, has sought the intervention of the Chief Election Commissioner for creating a barrier-free environment for nearly 50 million disabled voters in polling booths across the county.

SC seeks Centre’s stand on IIMs
New Delhi, March 12
The Supreme Court today asked the Central Government whether it would furnish an undertaking regarding non-interference in the IIMs’ autonomy. A Bench, comprising Chief Justice V.N. Khare, Mr Justice S.B. Sinha and Mr Justice S.H. Kapadia, allowed the Union Government time till March 19 to submit its reply.

Pak tanneries polluting Sutlej
Ferozepore, March 12
Tanneries, situated in and around the border town of Kasur in Pakistan, are polluting the Sutlej, rendering it unsuitable for irrigational and drinking purposes. According to information, hundreds of tanneries are located in Kasur, famous for leather and its products. Since this town is situated in close proximity of the Indo-Pakistan border, its effluents are discharged into the Sutlej, which enters and exits Pakistan at several places along the border in this sector.
