Ambala, July 27
The web-based train-time inquiry and display system is proving to be useful for passengers in Ambala division.

An official said passengers who reached the Ambala Cantonment railway station found the display of train time information on prominently located sets at the entrance. “The display shows the current status of the trains expected to reach at selected stations in the next few hours,” he said.

He said the passenger did not have to enquire about the expected arrival of train from the inquiry counter. “A cursory look at the display system shows the current status. Now only those people who are not aware about this system approach the enquiry counter for information,” he added.

According to the Divisional Railway Manager, Ambala, Mr Deepak Krishan, “The passenger gets correct information and the information is scrolling, so the status of different trains can be got at a glance.” An attractive feature of the programme is that as soon as some delayed information is fed at a station for a train, it is automatically transferred to other stations in the route of the train.

Information is available to user in different formats. The information includes trains between two stations, current status of a train at a station and scheduled time-table for various sections.
