A special court of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) today held a Chandigarh Police Sub-Inspector, his wife and son guilty in a graft case registered in May 2011.

While the Mohali police are yet to identify the killer(s) of six-year-old Mehram Singh, his mother Harinder Kaur reiterated that she suspected the role of her estranged husband Varinderpal Singh in the crime. Soon after Mehram’s bhog ceremony concluded at a gurdwara in Phase IX this afternoon, Harinder Kaur demanded that her husband should be brought back from Australia. “Bring back Varinder, who is abroad,” said Harinder Kaur when asked whom she suspected behind the crime.

"Need to answer the call of nature? Hold on, we are on the way." This is the reply traffic policemen on duty will get when they call for the services of mobile toilets, being introduced by the Chandigarh Traffic Police.
The fully equipped mobile toilets, to be stationed at the Sector 29 Traffic Lines, will rush to the spot.
Attacked by stray cattle, woman dies
Mohali, November 12
A 39-year-old woman lost her life after being attacked by stray cattle here last night.
The incident occurred at around 8 pm on the road separating Sector 68 and Phase IX. The deceased, Satwinder Kaur, a resident of Phase IX, was on her way back home from Kharar after meeting a relative when stray cattle came in front of her Activa scooter all of a sudden.

The auction of 17 paid parking lots, organised by the municipal corporation, today turned out to be a flop show as contractors refused to participate.
The contractors were opposing MC’s decision not to include 12.36 per cent service tax in the reserve price of the parking lots.

There is no taker for parking lots located at the Chandigarh railway station. The authorities are struggling to allot the newly developed parking lot spread over an area of 1,200 square feet having a capacity for more than 700 cars to smoothen the parking for the commuters at the railway station.

Staff shortage at CHC adds to residents’ woes

The Community Health Centre (CH), Dhakoli, is unable to cater to a population of around 1.50 lakh residents due to staff shortage being faced by them.
Though the Punjab Government has set up the government-run 30-bedded CHC in 2011, the health authorities have failed to recruit requisite staff against the sanctioned strength even after three years.
