After winning Maha and Haryana, BJP ready for election in Delhi
Tribune News Service

New Delhi, October 20
Buoyed by party's victory in Maharashtra and Haryana, the Delhi BJP unit willing to push for fresh election in the national Capital, however, Lieutenant Governor Najeeb Jung today remained silent over the future political course in the city.

"I would not like to make a comment on the political scenario at this moment," said Jung during a function at Delhi Police Headquarters.

General secretary of Delhi BJP and South Delhi MP Ramesh Bidhuri had said the results of the assembly polls in Maharashtra and Haryana have "proved" that support for the BJP was not waning and the party will come out with clear mandate if Delhi goes to polls again.

"We are ready for fresh election as soon as possible. We will push for early polls. The Modi wave continues to sweep the country and the BJP will come to power with thumping majority if elections are held in Delhi again," Bidhuri said commenting on the results.

The LG last month had sent a report to the President, Pranab Mukherjee, seeking permission to invite the BJP to form a government in Delhi.

In the report, Jung gave a detailed analysis of the political situation and underlined the need to have an elected government in the city which is under the President's Rule since February 17 following resignation of the Aam Aadmi Party government which was in power for 49 days.

Whereas, Jung today remained tight-lipped at the function where he launched an anti-corruption advertisement campaign of the Delhi Police. Talking about the campaign, he said it will prove as an important step toward stopping corruption and urged people to stop giving bribes.

A series of advertisements were launched by the police urging people to report any kind of corruption related to the police on helpline number 1064 and WhatsApp helpline number 9910641064 where people can send audio-visual evidence as well.

New Delhi, October 20
Two Delhi Police constables were allegedly assaulted by some persons who were drinking and gambling at a public park in Uttam Nagar, west Delhi, yesterday.

Both the policemen were taken to Deen Dayal Upadhyay Hospital in west Delhi, where they were discharged after treatment. They had suffered injuries to their heads and faces.

According to the police, five persons, including a juvenile, have been apprehended. "A call was made for more reinforcements on which some senior officers arrived at the spot and apprehended the assaulters. They were drunk at the time of the incident," a police officer.

About 7.30 pm, constables Mandeep (29) and Satendra (39) had received information about some persons drinking and gambling at a park in Nawada. They reached there and began questioning the persons, who were allegedly indulging in the activities, according to the police.

The accused, numbering about six to eight, allegedly began pelting stones on the policemen in a bid to get away. Some even allegedly rained blows on the policemen's heads with sticks.

One of the constables was able to inform the police station and help arrived soon. The officer said some of the accused were in such an inebriated state that most of them were not able to escape.

Fake e-tickets a security threat at IGI Airport

New Delhi, October 20
There has been an increase in the number of cases of people entering Indira Gandhi International Airport in Delhi on forged e-tickets. These people, who have been apprehended, enter the airport building to spend time with a loved one or a relative or a friend, but the Delhi Police are apprehensive that such methods can be adopted by anti-social elements.

In 2012, the police had had arrested two person using forged e-tickets to enter the airport. In 2013, 10 persons were held in nine cases of entry into the airport building on forged e-tickets. Until October 16 this year, 12 persons have been arrested in 11 such cases. The incidents have taken place at the domestic (T 1-D) and the international (T-3) terminals of the airport.

The people who have been apprehended are those who want to spend more time with their loved ones, according to the police.

The first such case came to light in 2010. The police had arrested a man from Bihar for allegedly forging an e-ticket to enter the airport with his wife. "He had said he came to leave his wife. She was pregnant. He said he did not know it is a crime. But we took strict action against him. We booked him for forgery and cheating. He was jailed," said a police officer.

Following this case, many foreigners were also caught for using forged e-tickets to enter the airport. In 2013, five foreigners; two from London, one from Poland and one from Switzerland, were apprehended. This year, a Chinese national, a person from Uzbekistan, a Swiss national and a person from UAE were caught.

Such incidents are a grave security threat. "Until now there have been only cases of people forging e-tickets to enter the airport building to see off relatives or friends. By adopting such techniques these people harm the security system of the airport and can convince anti-social elements to adopt such methods," said the officer.

These people do not move beyond the check-in area. "But if anyone gets passed the check-in area, then it can be a great problem in view of the angle of terror and hijacking," said the officer.

"We are trying to see how a person procures a forged ticket. The study also focuses on the intention of people using forged e-tickets and whether the ticket or the photo ID card was impersonated. One has to show his or her photo ID card with the e-ticket to enter the airport building," said the officer.
