Sale of crackers banned:
Arun Sekhri, District Magistrate-cum-Deputy Commissioner, has banned the sale and storage of crackers in crowded and residential areas. The SDMs have been directed to issue minimum number of licences and ensure the implementation of the Explosive Act 1984 and Explosive Rules 1983. The respective SDMs will issue the licences after identifying the site. These orders will remain in force till November 14.

Phagwara
Man, son held for murder:
A migrant labourer Hari Dass and his teenaged son Suraj were arrested for allegedly murdering Gurdev Kaur (80). The woman, who had employed Hari, was found murdered at her house in Lehal Kalan village. The two confessed they killed her to steal her money. Hari Dass has been jailed while Suraj sent to a juvenile home, the police said.
