Decks cleared for road construction

Even as the Greater Ludhiana Area Development Authority has completed the process of inviting tenders for the second time for the construction of 1.72 km of missing link II from Dugri Dhandra Road to the Dhuri railway line towards the completion of the Southern bypass, the residents of the area are up in arms over what they describe as the inordinate delay in the execution of the
project.
BRS Nagar subzi mandi
Vendors not allowed to put up stalls

The tehbazari officials of Zone D did not allow vendors to set up a “subzi mandi” behind the Zone D office, near BRS
Nagar, here today. The “mandi” had been set up in the area every Sunday for the past more than two years.

Daresi ground to witness tallest Ravana’s effigy
Ludhiana, September 28
This year, the historical Daresi ground will witness the burning of the tallest ever effigy of Ravana during the Dussehra celebrations in the city. It will be an 85-foot effigy. Till last year, the maximum height of such effigies had remained 80 feet.

5 MC employees shifted for not delivering summons
Ludhiana, September 28
The Municipal Corporation authorities have transferred five employees, who allegedly took money from violators in lieu of not delivering them court summons. These violators were challaned by the tehbazari wing of the MC. The erring employees would make one excuse or the other for not delivering the summons.

The local industry is
yet to arrange the 50 per cent amount required in the formation of the yarn bank, while
