Woman killed in clash: A dispute between two youths led to a woman’s death in Sriganganagar. Ved Pal alleged that his wife Kanta Devi (50) came to their son Ajay’s rescue on Monday night when he was being thrashed by Vikas, his mother and friend Avinash. The accused allegedly kicked Kanta in her abdomen and fled. She was shifted to a hospital but died. Four held with drugs:
The police here today claimed to have seized 22 kg of poppy husk from Surjit Singh of Bhambawattu village (Jalalabad) and Mangat Nikka. They were intercepted at different places. Anil Bishnoi and Vikas were nabbed carrying sedatives near Raipura village, the police said. They have been arrested.

Patwari nabbed taking bribe: The Vigilance Bureau has arrested a patwari posted at Golalipur revenue circle in Tarn Taran district while allegedly accepting
Rs 5,000 as bribe from a local resident. The complainant, Gurmukh Singh, had approached patwari Sukha Singh to get the mutation deed for his agricultural land. The VB also arrested Gurbagh Singh, a private assistant engaged by the patwari.

Depot holder arrested:The district police have arrested a depot holder for stocking kerosene oil after tampering with government records in his depot at Bhagdana village near Badali Ala Singh. Mandeep Singh, Food Inspector, in his complaint, stated that they had raided the depot owned by Mohinder Singh. He had shown 10 litres of kerosene oil in stock while he possessed 200 litres in the depot for selling on the black market, he alleged. Patiala
Official held for graft: The Vigilance Bureau has registered a case of corruption against Food and Civil Supply Inspector Vishal Kumar for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 3,000 per month from a depot holder. The police have arrested the accused and started investigating the matter. Sangrur
13 bulls rescued: Some cow devotees on Tuesday intercepted a truck near a barrier at Moonak, about 60 km from Sangrur. The driver and the cleaner of the truck managed to flee. The devotees took the truck in possession and unloaded 13 bulls at a gaushala at Moonak. A case had been registered.
