Girl suffers injuries in hit-and-run
Ludhiana, September 9
A girl suffered injuries after a car hit her bicycle at Krishna Mandir Road today.
The car was being driven by a woman. The girl was going towards Ishmeet Chowk when the Skoda car hit her bicycle.
The girl lost control and fell on the road. She fell unconscious. Passersby
gathered at the spot, but nobody came forward to help her. An elderly person
rushed her to hospital. The woman instead of stopping the vehicle tried to speed
away. An eyewitness, Gurwinder Singh, who was riding a motorcycle gave the car a
chase.

Issru incident keeps organisers of political conferences on toes

Apprehension of interruption in political conferences by activists of protesting organisations or some ‘disappointed’ youth kept the Administration and the organisers on toes during the third day of the Mela Chhapar today. The organisers of the conferences of Congress, AAP and Left parties were equally apprehensive of some disturbance as were the SAD conference conveners.

Simplify tax structure: Traders to govt

The members of Trade and Industry made a fervent plea to the Punjab government for simplifying the tax structure so as to facilitate economic growth in the state.
During a meeting of the United Cycle and Parts Manufacturers Association
(UCPMA), Ashok Juneja, vice-president of the Chamber of Industrial and Commercial Undertakings
(CICU) said the tax burden on trade and industry should be brought down to such a level that it does not impede the normal business activity.

Civic body seeks High Court advice on encroachments
