Reports of listening devices being found at Union Minister Nitin Gadkari’s residence have added a new dimension to the upcoming India-US strategic dialogue here on July 31. Snooping by the US’ National Security Agency on the BJP is likely to figure during the talks to be co-chaired by External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj and US Secretary of State John Kerry.

Saharanpur peaceful during curfew relaxation
Saharanpur, July 28
Curfew relaxation today passed off peacefully with no untoward incident being reported from any part of the city. People went out to shop for the essential goods. Residents stepped out of their houses after two days following a relaxation in curfew in two phases.

Central intervention unlikely now

With the Punjab and Haryana High Court issuing a notice to Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Centre, UT and some others on a petition regarding the Haryana Sikh Gurdwara (Management) Act, chances of an extra-judicial intervention by the Governor or the Central Government are remote.

Customs official’s wife shot at in Gurgaon 
Gurgaon, July 28
A 50-year-old woman, wife of a customs official, was shot at by three masked men at her house in Sector 31 here today. She was taken to a hospital where her condition was stated to be critical.
