Water woes in P’kula to stay as Kaushalya Dam goes dry

The Kaushalya Dam at Pinjore has failed to meet the water requirement of Panchkula The controversial Kaushalya Dam that was constructed at a cost of Rs 240 crore has disappointed city residents as it has gone dry. Ever since the dam has been completed, the city continues to remain parched as it has not been able to fulfill even the minimum requirement of the city.

Senior BJP leader Vijay Kumar Malhotra (82) is likely to be the new Punjab Governor-cum-UT Administrator. According to sources in Union Home Ministry, his name is among the front runners for the post. Even local BJP leaders also lobbying for Malhotra’s name in Delhi.

After getting reports from experts that adjoining building (SCOs 117-118) is under an immediate serious threat, the UT Estate Office (EO) today wrote to the UT Chief Engineer to give its report on removal of debris from the site (SCOs 114-116) from where the National Institute of Electronics and Information Technology (NIELIT) was operating.

Waterlogging near a market in one of the affected sectors in Mohali In the absence of any basic infrastructure, residents of Sectors 76 to 80 are forced to live in hell-like conditions. Prof Prem Singh Chandumajra, MP Prem Singh Chandumajra, newly elected MP from the Anandpur Sahib Constituency, apparently changed his stand on the paid parking issue in Mohali. Chandumajra, who used to claim during his election campaign that he would not allow paid parking in the town, today categorically said the issue would be handled by the Municipal Corporation after its elections.
