Abohar
Principal dies in accident:
Nehru Memorial PG College, Hanumangarh, principal KK Sharma and Saraf Degree College manager Hemant Pandey were killed and Sharma's son Nitesh was injured when the car they were travelling in collided head on with a tractor-trailer on the Sriganganagar-Bikaner highway on Thursday evening. Family sources said Hemant Pandey, who was pursuing PhD under Sharma's guidance, was to report for viva at Bikaner on Friday. Pandey was driving the car. The car collided with the tractor-trailer near Mokhampura.

Muktsar
Jagmeet’s mother cremated:
Jagdish Kaur (82), mother of senior Congress leaders Jagmeet Singh Brar (former CWC member) and Ripjit Singh Brar (former MLA, Kotkapura) was cremated at Muktsar on Friday. She breathed her last at their Gurgaon residence on Thursday. Senior leaders of various parties, social workers, besides people of the area attended the cremation ceremony.

Sangrur
Bid to loot ATM:
Four unidentified persons on Friday made an unsuccessful attempt to loot an ATM at a branch of the State Bank of Patiala at Benra village, near Dhuri. Station House Officer (SHO) Deepinderpal Singh said the accused tried to break open the ATM, but failed. A case has been registered.

Minor abducted, 7 booked:
Seven persons have abducted a teenaged girl and stolen Rs 5 lakh and gold ornaments worth Rs 12 lakh from Bhikhiwind, 32 km from here. Three of the accused have been identified. They are Harpreet Singh, his father Gurdev Singh and Kuldeep Singh. The victim’s father said his daughter was kidnapped from their house on the intervening night of June 10 and 11. A case has been registered.

Power cut in 11 villages: Power supply to 11 villages was snapped for eight hours on Thursday night when 17 feeders in the region developed a snag. The affected villages were Pandori Gola, Bhullar, Sangha, Bachre, Rasulpur, Aladinpur, Dugalwala, Jodhpur, Bugha, Chutala and Rurreassal.

Skeletons found
: The police found five skeletons in a forest at Jungal Chatti near the Kedarnath shrine, Rudraprayag. After taking the DNA samples, policemen performed the last rites.
