118 lakh tonnes of wheat procured:
The state government procured over 118 lakh tonnes of wheat till Tuesday evening, an official press release stated on Wednesday. It added that Sangrur district with 10.24 lakh tonnes was leading in procurement operations.

Protest by Shiv Sena:
Shiv Sena workers staged a protest on Wednesday against pollution caused in Kiratpur Sahib due to offloading of coal at the local railway station.
They said if the authorities did not take remedial measures, the Shiv Sena would start a campaign on the issue.

tariff.

Ropar
Woman held in drugs case:
The Ropar police arrested a Chandigarh woman on charge of drug-trafficking on Wednesday. The accused has been identified as Bala, a resident of Sector 38 in Chandigarh. Morinda SHO Harkirat Singh said around 35 such cases were already registered against Bala at different police stations. During the interrogation of some drug addicts and drug peddlers, the police had come to know that Bala was involved in supplying drugs in the Ropar area. An arrest warrant was procured and she was arrested from her house with the help of Sector 39 police, the SHO said.
