Now, NIC to provide smart cards to RLA office

After facing embarrassment due to the shortage of smart cards for registration certificates (RCs) and driving licences (DLs) in the recent past, the Registering and Licensing Authority (RLA) has now decided to replace the Society for Promotion of IT in Chandigarh (SPIC) that currently provides the smart card, by the National Informatics Centre (NIC) that will be providing the smart card at much lower rates.

In a major relief to electricity consumers, the Permanent Lok Adalat (Public Utility Services), Mohali, directed the Punjab State Power Corporation Ltd (PSPCL) not to recover monthly charges on the LDHF formula for the period a burnt meter remained at the site and instead raise the bill on the basis of average of previous/subsequent period.

Thieves strike at Sector 23 Prachin Shiv Mandir again

For the sixth time in the past six months, Sector 23 temple has again been targeted by thieves. Theft of Rs 2,000 was reported from Prachin Shiv Mandir in Sector 23 last night. Incidentally, a similar theft was reported on the intervening night of February 25 and 26 too.

Local squash player Ishaan Nayar (10) made the city proud by winning the ISA (Indian Squash Academy) Squash Tournament held in Chennai.
A class V student of Vivek High School, Sector 38, bagged his first major title of his career. In this national tournament, held from April 30 to May 4, Ishaan won all matches and defeated top-seeded players to claim the title.
