Electronics shop gutted:An electronics shop in Sriganganagar, 40 km from here in Rajasthan, was gutted on Saturday. The fire reportedly broke out due to sparking in a transmission line. The shop owner, Ravi Chalana, said the electricity pole was less than 3 ft from his showroom. He had repeatedly requesting the electricity board to shift the pole, but to no avail. Earlier, two persons had died of shocks from the electricity pole during rain, he said.

Woman killed in mishap:A woman was killed when the motorcycle, which her son was driving, was hit by a car on Saturday night. The deceased has been identified as Kaushalia Devi of Phagwara. Her son, Rajesh Kumar, was injured critically. The police have registered case and sent the body to the Civil Hospital for the post-mortem examination. Lovers commit suicide:
A woman and her lover allegedly committed suicide by jumping before a train near Goraya on Saturday. The victims have been identified as Nirmal Devi and Roshan Lal, both residents of Kahna-Dhesian village. 7 hurt in firing:Seven persons were injured in a firing incident at Kirrian village near here on Saturday. The incident took place over harvesting of wheat crop at a disputed land. Sources said five of the accused had been identified as Daler Singh, Gurmej Singh, Dilbag Singh, Harbhajan Singh and Mangal Singh while 15 others were yet to be named.
