Bal Niketan Shame
Day after, shocking details emerge
Chandigarh, April 22
Minor girl inmates of Bal Niketan, a home for destitute children, in their statements to a four-member committee set up by the UT Administration, have accused the supervisor, Manish Arora, of molesting them by forcibly making them sit on his lap, lifting their shirts and skirts to touch their private parts and hugging them with a “bad touch”.

Services remained crippled at the Registering and Licensing Authority (RLA) office in Sector 17 consecutively for the second day after the uninterrupted power supply (UPS) developed a snag following which the computers had to be shut down leading to harassment of hundreds of visitors.

A day after the supervisor of Bal Niketan was booked for sexually harassing inmates, the police failed to arrest him today too.

UT dept to inspect homes for the destitute in city
Chandigarh, April 22
Taking serious note of the molestation case unearthed at Bal Niketan, a home for destitute girl children in Sector 15, the UT Social Welfare Department constituted a special team to inspect all five homes located in the city today.

AAP deposits Rs 2,400 fine for defacing city during poll

Penalised for defacing the city, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) deposited a fine of Rs 2,400 with the Chandigarh Municipal Corporation (MC) today. The AAP candidate, Gul Panag, was penalised for pasting posters in the Secretariat, PGI and PEC campus during elections.

Woman found dead; parents blame in-laws

Two killed in road accidents in Mohali

Two persons were killed and one was seriously injured in separate road accidents at Kharar, near here, last night. In the first incident, Manoj Singh lost his life while his friend, Parmod Kumar, sustained serious injuries when their motorcycle was hit by a truck.

Local lad to attend national coaching clinic

Amrit Lubana of DAV Senior Secondary School here has been selected for a seven-day special coaching clinic to be held in Mumbai. He has been selected on the basis of his performance in the inter-state leg of the Coca Cola Cricket Cup for boys (U-16). A total of 27 players have been selected for the coaching clinic.
