Keep off BCCI affairs, SC tells Srinivasan
New Delhi, April 16
The Supreme Court today made it clear that it would allow the BCCI to probe the match-fixing allegations against some players and officials of the IPL, instead of handing over the investigation to the CBI or a special team, only if N Srinivasan was kept out of the board. A bench comprising Justices AK Patnaik and FMI Kalifulla asked the board and Srinivasan to choose between a probe by a special investigation team (SIT)/CBI and a BCCI panel, upon which the senior advocates appearing for the two sought time till April 22.

S Korean ferry sinks, over 280 missing

CBI to question ex-Secy Parakh in Coalgate

Probe into alleged irregularities in allocation of Talabira-II coal blocks has gained momentum as the CBI has started questioning top executives of the Aditya Birla Group and were likely to quiz former Coal Secretary PC Parakh next week. Official sources said that some of the top executives of the Rs 2.4 lakh crore Birla company were called in connection with the allocation of the coal block in Odhisa.

‘Bhaag Milkha...’ bags national award New Delhi, April 16 ‘Bhaag Milkha Bhaag’, the Farhan Akhtar-starrer Hindi film on former ace athlete Milkha Singh was adjudged the best popular film for providing wholesome entertainment at the 61st National Film Awards announced here today. Anand Gandhi’s debut film ‘Ship of Theseus’ (English-Hindi) was named the best feature film while the Indira Gandhi award for the best debut film of a director went to Marathi film ‘Fandry’.
