UT challenges Punjab proposal

Taking a tough stand on the proposal of the Punjab Government to reduce the radius of the eco-sensitive zone (ESZ) around the Sukhna Wildlife Sanctuary, the UT Administration has written to the Ministry of Environment and Forests (MoEF) stating that before approving the proposal, the ministry must take its consent.
300 suffer as Panjab varsity widow pension scheme fails to take off

A 69-year-old widow, Shama Rani, who lost her husband in an accident 13 years ago, was left with no option but to be dependant on her son for her day-to-day basic necessities as Panjab University failed to implement the widow pension scheme which could have made her self-reliant.
