Teacher replaced after stir:
Hundreds of villagers protested outside the Government High School in Pandori village on Tuesday. They alleged school Head Teacher Sunita Rani bungled funds while axing several trees and used building material that was poor in quality. The protesters called off their protest after District Education Officer Roop Lal replaced Sunita Rani with Shashi Kiran as Head Teacher. He also ordered an enquiry in the matter.

PSPCL employees protest:
The employees of Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (PSPCL) protested against the state government on Wednesday and demanded that the Punjab State Electricity Board (PSEB) be revived. The PSEB was split into two corporations four years ago. Under the banner of PSEB Employees Federation, the protesters held rallies in all the sub-divisions of the district. Jeewan Singh, senior vice-president of the federation, said the employees had never accepted the creation of the two corporations.

Woman kills self, 3 booked: A 26-year-old married woman Simarjit Kaur allegedly committed suicide by hanging herself from an iron rod at her in-laws’ house at Balad Khurd village near Bhawanigarh on Wednesday. She is survived by her husband and a three-and-a-half-year old daughter. Station House Officer Sukhminder Singh said on the complaint of the deceased’s mother, the victim’s husband Jagtar Singh, sister-in-law Ranjit Kaur and mother-in-law Gurmail Kaur have been booked. However, no arrest has been made so far.
