Online registration soon to ease rush at OPD counters
New Delhi, March 3 Senior government officials said that a software application is being developed for the online registration, a move which is expected to reduce the huge rush at OPD counters in the hospitals. "The decision has been taken in view of overcrowding at OPD counters," said a senior official of the Health Department. Taking action to improve the services and prevent malpractices on the premises of the hospitals, the department has formed inspection teams which will visit hospitals on periodic basis. "The visit is still on and 15 hospitals have been inspected," said the official. For inspection in dispensaries, a team has been set up by the Directorate of Health Services involving the Chief Medical Officer in the districts. Orders have been issued to all the hospitals to evict and ban the entry of any kind of unauthorised persons, including touts, medical or lab representatives and vendors, on the premises. "The hospitals have been asked to maintain a strict watch on unauthorised elements to curb illegal practices," the official said, adding that the Medical Superintendents have been directed to take round of all the public interface areas during OPD timing and to ensure that staff have no access to outsiders. The hospitals have also been directed to install CCTV cameras, especially at registration counters, pharmacy, diagnostics, emergency, help desks, maternity wards, labour rooms and other areas having public interface. "All the hospitals will have CCTV cameras which will be then linked centrally to the Directorate of Health Services and Secretariat," he added. Besides, help desks for assisting and facilitating poor patients in availing hospital services have been set up. Patient Welfare Officers manning these desks have also been briefed to keep an eye on malpractices. |
