The Delhi government today said that it has decided to appeal to the Supreme Court against the increase in the price of Compressed Natural Gas (CNG), which fuels autos in Delhi. A senior official in the Chief Minister's office said that they will file a case in the Supreme Court as the hike is 'discriminatory'.

Autorickshaw drivers, who are an important part of the AAP's support base, had protested against the increase, warning that they would hike their fares.

Two days before the AAP-led Delhi government was formed, the Union government had increased the price of the CNG by nearly 10 per cent, Rs 4.50 per kg. Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal had at that time said that this move was part of a conspiracy against his new government.

Further, what could be a reason for another spat between the Delhi government and the Delhi police, the state government today decided to approach the Centre to raise two important issues related to the Delhi police. The government will take up the matter of 'accidental' shooting of a 19-year-old motorcyclist at the hands of an inspector and a gangrape issue that was reported yesterday morning.

A magisterial inquiry initiated in the shooting case has reportedly indicted the police.

"The magistrate report in the shooting of the motorcyclist makes it clear that the boy was not part of the motorcyclists' gang and he was riding pillion," said a top officer of the Chief Minister's office.

"Apart from that, one more rape incident was reported today. We would be approaching the Centre over these issues. We want to know what the police have done in both the incidents," the officer added.

BJP dharna for Bharti's dismissal
Vardhan has sent an open letter to the CM on the AAP promises
Tribune News Service

New Delhi, January 27
Intensifying its agitation, Delhi BJP today sat on dharna outside Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's office appealing him to dismiss Law Minister Somnath Bharti. Leader of the Opposition in Delhi assembly Dr Harsh Vardhan said that the BJP would continue its agitation all over Delhi for the dismissal of the minister for his alleged misbehaviour with the Ugandan women at Khirki Extension.

It was the first protest held by the BJP against the government's rigid stance on Bharti. Soon a group of representatives from the BJP will meet the Lieutenant Governor, Home Minister and the President with their demands.

Vardhan has sent an open letter to the Chief Minister with 13 points related to the promises that the Aam Aadmi Party had made to the public and asked Kejriwal to reply to the letter.

He said all the citizens are equal in the eyes of law. The Supreme Court has also demanded an explanation from the police and the Delhi government as to how the Chief Minister and his ministers were allowed to stage a dharna in front of Rail Bhawan, breaching Section 144.

The apex court has ordered an enquiry into this matter, Dr Harsh Vardhan said.

The Delhi BJP will hold a meeting on January 29 to chalk out a programme for launching 'Ek Note, Bhajpa ko Vote' campaign for the Lok Sabha elections. Delhi party unit president Vijay Goel said, "The party will be launching this door-to-door campaign as part of the national campaign conceived as 'Ek Note, Ek vote'.

The party workers will try and visit every household in the Capital with an appeal to vote and support the party in the election."

"We are focussing on all sections of society. The party is getting an overwhelming support, especially from the women, youth and the poor. The BJP will launch a series of programmes which will be deliberated upon over the next few days in view of the Lok Sabha polls," he added.

"It is clear after the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has failed to deliver in the last one month in Delhi that the people would be looking up to the BJP to provide good governance. We would reach out to every household to reinforce their confidence in us," said Goel.

Slamming the AAP government for doing nothing during its one-month rule, Goel said, "Even the Delhi High Court has today expressed its unhappiness over the way the AAP has handled the issue of providing shelters to the homeless in Delhi. The Chief Minister and his colleagues are busy in holding dharnas."

New Delhi, January 27
The West district police has arrested a man who is involved in a case of cheating by using the credit card details of other persons. Three mobile phones have been recovered from his possession.

The accused, Rishi Narula, who worked as a tour and travel agent in a private firm, used to get the credit card details of the persons who came to his office as tourists. He changed the E-mail ID and mobile phone numbers of the customers after obtaining their passwords, the police said.

The police received a complaint from Mukesh Giri, Assistant Manager, Fraud Control and Investigation, in SBI Cards and Payments Services. Seven of his customers were duped of Rs 1,76,000 through fictitious online transactions. The cheat used to change the E-mail ID and phone numbers of the SBI credit card holders and made transactions from their online accounts.

The customers made a complaint to Giri who further sought the assistance of the Kirti Nagar police station in West Delhi.

The police received information yesterday that the accused Rishi Narula would come near Ramesh Nagar Metro Station, for taking a parcel from a representative of a courier company. The police arrested the accused while he was obtaining the parcel of a mobile phone purchased fraudulently.
