BJP all set for "historic" rally
New Delhi, September 28 Buoyed by the spirit of BJP's mascot and prime ministerial candidate Nadrendra Modi, the party in view of the Delhi Assembly and Lok Sabha elections, is clearly looking forward to the Sunday rally hoping that it would reinforce people's faith on the party and its new avatar of being development-oriented or a "party for development". "This will be a historic rally. More than five lakh people are expected to attend it. The Congress is scared of the massive response this rally has got, hence, is creating obstructions in putting up hoardings, posters, etc.," said Delhi BJP president Vijay Goel and Leader of the Opposition in Delhi Assembly Prof. Vijay Kumar Malhotra while addressing a joint press conference today. They pointed out at the instances of hoardings of the BJP being removed from the stretch of Outer Ring Road from ISBT to Rohini. The party would highlight Delhi specific issues and promote Modi's development model during the rally, which is going to be addressed by Modi, apart from Delhi polls in charge and former national BJP president Nitin Gadkari at Japanese Park, Rohini. Prof. Malhotra said, "The rally will expose Congress' hollow claims on the issue of inflation, corruption and lack of development in Delhi. The city has been turned into a slum during the past 15 years." In addition to taking on the Congress during the rally, Goel said the BJP is going to discuss the party's positive agenda for upcoming polls. "Development is the mantra for the BJP. Modi himself is an icon of development and the Delhi BJP is also focusing on 'development'," he added. "The focus of the rally is to a great extent on the development of Delhi. The BJP-ruled states such as Gujarat, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh and Goa have presented new development models. The BJP would implement similar models in Delhi when it comes to power," they added. According to them, it is BJP's focus on development that has enabled it garner huge support from all communities and sections of society for tomorrow's rally. |
