Pension fund for local bodies’ staff: To ensure timely payment of pension and retirement benefits to employees of the local bodies, the Punjab Government has created a pension fund by amending the Punjab Municipal Corporation Employees Pension and General Provident Fund Rules, 1994 and the Punjab Improvement Trust Employees Pension and General Provident Rules, 1994. An official press note by the Chief Minister's office said Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal had cleared the proposal mooted by Local Bodies Minister Chuni Lal

Mansa, Moga, SAS Nagar (Mohali), Sri Mukatsar Sahib, Patiala, Sangrur, SBS
Nagar, Tarn Taran and Roop Nagar.

Man booked for killing wife, lover: The police has booked Jasvir Singh of Fatehgarh Neuwan and Lakhbir Singh of Lasada village for killing Kulwinder Kaur and her paramour Varinder Singh here on Wednesday. The body of Kulwinder, Jasvir's wife, was found in a field on Monday and that of Varinder the next day. Ramandeep Singh, Deputy Superintendent of Police, Khamano, said Jasvir and Kulwinder's brother Lakhbir had given Varinder and Kulwinder sedatives before killing them both and dumping their bodies in the fields. The DSP said a case had been registered against Jasvir and Lakhbir and a manhunt had been launched to nab the two accused.

9 held for immoral trafficking: Two flesh trade rackets have been unearthed by the police in Dhuri and Sunam towns of the district by arresting nine persons, including five women. Following a tip-off, the police raided a house in Sunam and arrested three women and two men, said Station House Officer Satnam Singh. In another incident, the Dhuri police arrested four persons, including two women, under the Immoral Trafficking Act. One of the accused is a former sarpanch of a village. Separate cases have been
registered against the accused.
