DTF flays non-release of arrears
Patalia, September 18 Dr Jaswinder Singh Brar, convener, DTF said withholding of 20 per cent amount of arrears is against the government's own decision of paying the full arrears in three installments. It is to be noted that as per the notification of the Finance Department of the state issued on January 2, 2013 the Punjab government has decided to release the pay arrears in three installments comprising of 30 per cent, 30 per cent, and 40 per cent respectively on January 31, February 28 and March 31, 2013. However, the state government had released the 80 per cent amount of arrears of university teachers during March 2013 but withholds the 20 per cent amount. He said non-releasing of 20 per cent amount is totally unjustified, unconstitutional and arbitrary in nature. Moreover, the government college teachers and teachers of government aided private colleges in the state had already been paid the full amount of arrears during the March 2013. DTF strongly condemned the discrimination done by the state government with the university teachers of the state in terms of payment of arrears. Further, DTF also demanded the immediate release of DA installment of 8 per cent due from January 2013 for the employees as the Centre Government and neighboring states has already released the said DA installment. |
