BJP women workers protest rising prices
New Delhi, July 13 The police stopped the activists on Akbar Road and used water cannons as they tried to cross the barricades to reach 10 Janpath. The marchers were led by president of the Delhi BJP unit Vijay Goel. Addressing the women workers participating in the demonstration, Goel said that the Chief Minister wanted to implement the Food Security Scheme in Delhi on August 20. But the reality is that no ration cards have been issued for the past 15 years in the city. The Public Distribution System (PDS) has totally collapsed. Justice Wadhwa Committee has found that the PDS in Delhi is one of the most corrupt and inefficient systems in the country. He said that the Annashree Yojna and Antyodaya Yojna started by the Delhi Government have already failed. Now, the government wants to hoodwink the people by talking about the Food Security Scheme. This scheme will meet the same fate as the Rajiv Ratna Aawas Yojna. The people of Delhi know all these things and will give a befitting reply to the Congress at the right time. President of the state Mahila Morcha Sudha Sharma said that the government has no control over the rising prices of essential commodities. As a housewife, she knows how much the price rise has hit the people's monthly budget. Even vegetables are now out of reach of the common man, she said. |
Some seats still vacant for general students
New Delhi, July 13 Colleges will soon release the sixth and seventh lists. "Until last year while reserved category seats remained open in subsequent lists; for the general category, admissions were usually closed by the fifth cut-off list, this time seats continue to run vacant in some colleges," said DU registrar Prof Alka Sharma. "In order to fill the vacant seats, we have notified the colleges to release the sixth and seventh lists at the earliest," she said. However, the colleges have been warned to take special care to fill the seats reserved for students from SC or ST, the other backward castes or in the disability and other quotas. |
