Congress workers staged a dharna at Sarhali, 22 km from here, today by sitting on the National Highway No. 15 against shifting of posts of specialists doctors from Government Health Centres in the rural areas to the urban areas.

Centre's decision to induct Santosh Chaudhary hailed

Congress workers have welcomed the inclusion of Santosh Chaudhary, an MP from Hoshiarpur Lok Sabha seat, in the Union government as a state Minister for Health and Family Welfare during the reshuffling of the Union Ministry this evening.

Man found dead

Jagir Singh (55), a resident of Nandpur village, was found dead at Chaudhriwala village under mysterious circumstances.

Congress workers stage dharna at Sarhali

Tarn Taran, June 17
Congress workers staged a dharna at Sarhali, 22 km from here, today by sitting on the National Highway No. 15 against shifting of posts of specialists doctors from Government Health Centres in the rural areas to the urban areas.

Harminder Singh Gill, a senior leader of the party, while addressing party workers on the occasion, said the specialists doctors from the Community Health Centres (CHC), Sarhali, Naushehra Pannuan, Ghariala, Kairon, Harike and others have been shifted to other stations in the urban areas.

Gill said all specialists doctors from CHC Sarhali have been shifted and only one doctor was left at the the CHC. He said as many as 350 out patients come to the CHC daily and it was not possible for a single doctor to attend all patients.

Gill demanded that more posts of specialists doctors be given to CHC Sarhali. He also demanded for the upgrade of health centres of the area to provide more medical facilities.

Centre's decision to induct Santosh Chaudhary hailed

Hoshiarpur, June 17
Congress workers have welcomed the inclusion of Santosh Chaudhary, an MP from Hoshiarpur Lok Sabha seat, in the Union government as a state Minister for Health and Family Welfare during the reshuffling of the Union Ministry this evening.

Minister Naresh Thakur, Congress president Rajnish Tandon and many other thanked AICC president Sonia Gandhi and Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh for inducting Santosh Chaudhary. They hoped that Santosh Chaudhary would leave no stone unturned for the development of this constituency which was lagging behind in the field of development.

Man found dead

Tarn Taran, June 17
Jagir Singh (55), a resident of Nandpur village, was found dead at Chaudhriwala village under mysterious circumstances. 

Jagir Singh had gone to Rurriwala village at his relative's place and was coming back to his village. A report under Section 174, CrPC, had been lodged at the Sarhali police station. — OC
