Body found in village canal

Tarn Taran, May 31
The local Sadar police has recovered a body of an unidentified person from the canal near village Sangha, six kilometers from here last late evening.

A case under sections 302 and 201 of IPC has been registered. Inspector Naurang Singh, SHO, said the body looked to be that of a 47-year-old man. He said strangulation marks at the neck were visible. The body has been kept in postmortem house for identification.

5 booked for beating man to death

Nawanshahr, May 31
Rahon police has booked Jeet Pal, Dilpreet, Munna Sharma, Dharamjit Singh and Gobind Sharma under sections 302, 341, 342, 120 B, 148 and 149 of IPC for allegedlly beating a truck driver Raj Kumar of village Berpura ( Ambala) to death.

Devi Chand, nephew of the victim, has stated he was working as cleaner with his uncle and on May 28, when they were coming to Nawanshahr from Ludhiana, their truck had a collision with another truck. The driver of the truck allegedly informed his master about the collision on phone and when they reached near village Khurdan, some persons in a car stopped their truck and started beating his uncle. They allegedly kept him in captivity and beat him to death. — OC
