Cop misbehaves with girl, suspended

Satwinder Singh, a head constable posted at the Moti Nagar police station, has been suspended for allegedly misbehaving with a girl late last night.
Municipal Commissioner summons record of land

A day after the issue of a park in Joshi Nagar being allegedly encroached upon by three Ludhiana Municipal Corporation employees was highlighted by Ludhiana Tribune, the civic body today swung into action with the MC Commissioner summoning the record of the land in question.
Two more robbers land in police net
Ludhiana, March 25
The police has arrested two more members of a robbers' gang allegedly involved in the kidnapping and robbing of residents in a moving vehicle.
Surinder Singh, ASI of the PAU police station, said the accused had been identified as Avtar Singh Tari and Gobind Keshi, alias Nannu Nepali, both residents of Z block, Haibowal Khurd.
A2Z staff go on strike

City residents remained on the receiving end after there was no lifting of garbage from the streets till today afternoon. The lifting of garbage, which starts from 8 am everyday, started only around 2 pm as the drivers of the A2Z Waste Management Ludhiana Ltd today went on strike demanding increase in their salaries. More than 950 metric tones of garbage is produced in the city daily.

PAU students clinch 9 medals in youth fest

Students of the Punjab Agricultural University (PAU) have brought laurels to the university by clinching nine medals at the Punjab State Inter-University Youth Festival, organised by the Directorate of Youth Services, Government of Punjab, from March 19 to 21 at Shivalik Public School, Mohali. The PAU students won gold medal in poster making, and bronze medals in skit, mime, folk song, poetry recitation, collage making, cartooning, clay modeling, and gidhha events. PAU Vice-Chancellor, Dr Baldev Singh Dhillon, and Director Students' Welfare, Dr Balwinder Singh congratulated the students for winning laurels at the state level youth fest and exhorted them to maintain this rich tradition.
PU-affiliated colleges may end semester system

The semester system in the post graduation classes, being run in the colleges affiliated with Panjab University,
Chandigarh, is on the verge of closure as the PU Vice-Chancellor has formed a review committee comprising representatives from different colleges to study and submit their feedback on the issue. The semester system is expected to be abolished from the coming academic session if the Syndicate provides its nod in April meeting.

No headway in robbery case
Ludhiana, March 25
The police is still clueless in the Shingaar Cinema manger robbery case, in which the manager of the cinema was shot at and robbed of Rs 3.5 lakh even after three days.
The police has summoned a huge number of blacklisted criminals for questioning in past three days. The police is also suspecting the involvement of insiders of Cinema.
Few takers for BSNL pre-paid broadband

There seems to be hardly any takers in the city for the pre-paid broadband service being offered by the BSNL. CS Bhanot, Senior General Manager said there are not many customers for the pre-paid broadband service in the city. He said, however, there is a good customer base for the post-paid broadband service and the pre-paid service is not being much preferred here. Had it been introduced earlier, it would have been better received in the market, he added.

Man’s leg comes under bus wheel

A bus ran over a man’s leg near the railway station today. The victim, Ram Aasra, reportedly jumped from a moving bus and his leg came under its tyre.

High drama at DMCH over blood sample

High drama was witnessed at Dayanand Medical College and Hospital over collecting blood sample from a patient.
Acting on the court orders, a panel of three doctors constituted by the civil surgeon accompanied by the DMCH doctors collected blood samples of Charanjit Singh, who

Meeting
A meeting of Punjab State Electricity Regulatory Commission was held under the chairmanship of Romila Dubey, in which various organisations from the city was took part to discuss the matter of electricity, president of united cycle and parts manufacturers association.
