4-year-old molested in crèche, one arrested

The Chandigarh Police has arrested a 25-five-year old man for allegedly molesting a four-year-old girl at a crèche in Sector 38. The crèche is being run by the accused’s mother.

Capt Amarinder Singh at the victim’s residence in Phase III-A, Mohali, on Saturday. Assuring the family of Amarpreet, who was shot dead by some youths, Capt Amarinder Singh said he would take up the issue in the Punjab Assembly soon.

Another accused identified
Mohali, March 16
The police has identified another accused involved in the KFC firing incident. Mohali SSP GS Bhullar said Rajinder Singh, alias Mintoo, a resident of Bhaini Khurd village, Fatehgarh Sahib, along with the main accused, Talminder Singh, alias Talley, an Indian origin UK citizen, had opened fire to settle scores with his friend Shweta and her former employer at the KFC, Kharar, on March 12.

RLA fails to find bidders for vanity numbers

Now, face arrest for wrong parking

Those parking their cars haphazardly in the town will have to pay for it. The police has decided to book and arrest the offenders. Following complaints of wrong parking, Commissioner of Police Rajbir Deswal has asked the the Haryana Urban Development Authority officials for a list of authorised and non-authorised parking lots.

Railways all set to commence Chandigarh-Ludhiana rail link
Chandigarh, March 16
A file photo of a goods train run on the Chandigarh-Ludhiana rail link on a trial basis. The much-awaited Chandigarh-Ludhiana rail link is likely to become operational from March 31. A team of officials drawn from all the departments, which is headed by Railway Divisional Manager (RDM) P K Sangi, today inspected the link.

Kidnap drama at hospital

The police was virtually on its toes when a resident of Sector 46 approached it complaining that her five-year-old son was kidnapped from the Civil Hospital in Phase VI this afternoon.

The police has arrested a gang of five persons and seized fake currency of Rs 94,000 and 1 kg of poppy husk from their possession.

Girl abducted in Panchkula
Panchkula, March 16
A 15-year-old girl was allegedly abducted by a boy near Budanpur village, Sector 16, Panchkula, on pretext of marrying her. While in another case, a 30-year-old man was allegedly kidnapped by a few unidentified persons after he went near the Chandimandir petrol pump.

Two cases of eve-teasing registered
Chandigarh, March 16 Two cases of eve-teasing were registered at the Mani Majra police station. In the first incident, a girl reported that three motorcycle-borne youths passed remarks at her near Mauli Jagran in Chandigarh. The complainant managed to note down the registration number of motorcycle and a case was registered.

Gold chain snatched
Chandigarh : Two-motorcycle borne youths targeted a woman in Sector 23 and snatched her gold chain today. A case has been registered.

PCA authorities fail to deliver tickets at outlet
Chandigarh, March 16
Tickets being sold at a bank counter at Sector 32 in Chandigarh on Saturday. As many as 190 phones calls were received to enquire about the tickets at the Central Bank of India, the only outlet in the City Beautiful to get tickets for the ongoing third test match between India and Australia, but there was not even a single ticket to sell. Though it has been decided by the Punjab Cricket Association (PCA) authorities to sell the tickets on a daily basis, they did not deliver the lot of vouchers at the above mentioned venue till 1 pm.

City golfers make it to final
Chandigarh, March 16
The duo of Anurag Chopra and KJS Sandhu won the Chandigarh leg of the Audi Quattro Cup 2013, to qualify for the final, held at Panchkula Golf club, here . In the qualifying round of the tournament Anurag Chopra and KJS Sandhu combined to score 52 stableford points, while Rajinder Singh and Atul Khanna ended up runners-up at 50 points. Another pair of DS Sekhon and Naresh Nanda played well and scored 49 points to finish at the third position.
