While pronouncing the order sentencing IPS officer and former director of the Narcotics Control Bureau Saji Mohan to 13 years of rigorous imprisonment, the Court of Additional District and Sessions Judge, Shailini Nagpal, came down heavily on some of the witnesses who tried to mislead the court during the trial.

In a major setback to the Chandigarh Administration, the Supreme Court has stayed the Administration’s order wherein converted plot owners were asked to pay Rs 29,713 per square yard against Rs 20,000 specified in the conversion policy.

Surjeet Kuamar Jiani, Punjab Forest and Wildlife Minister, said the forest area in Punjab would be increased from 7 per cent to 15 per cent in the coming days. For this purpose, trees would be planted on the common places such as schools, cremation grounds and common lands in villages and cities, he added.
