Tarn Taran, February 25
Kisan Sangarash Committee (KSC), Punjab, has demanded the restoration of the compensation for land situated across the fencing on the Indo-Pak border and has also stressed for farmer’s unity.

The KSC raised the demand in a conference organised at border township Amarkot Adda, 35 km from here, today.

Kanwalpreet Singh Pannu, State Convener of the KSC, said the Union Government had started giving compensation to the border area farmers about fifteen years back but it was dropped later on.

Pannu said the farmers were facing acute hardships in cultivating their land situated across the fencing on the border.

He alleged that the Union and the state governments were responsible for the debt burden on the farmers as the genuine demands of the farmers had not been acceded till date.

He added that the border area farmers and the residents had no proper facilities in education, health, transport etc.

He also said the governments were not serious about protecting the interests of the farmers and the common man in the state.

Joginder Singh Ugran, State President of the Bharti Kisan Union (Ugrahan), also addressed the conference condemning the governments for their alleged anti-farmer policies.
