One more case of swine flu reported

With the reporting of one more case of confirmed swine flu in the Civil Hospital, the number of such patients have gone to two.

3 booked for dowry demand

The Model Town police last night booked Gobind Singh, his mother Harcharanjit Kaur and Harpinder Singh, all of the Badala road, Jalandhar, under Sections 496 and 498 A of the IPC for torturing and maltreating Sonika Saini, daughter of Sohan Lal of the local Heera Colony, for bringing dowry from her parents.

3 of family booked for abducting girl

The Dasuya police has booked three persons of a family of Darapur bypass, Tanda, under Sections 363, 366 A and 120 B of the IPC for abducting a teenaged girl of Kanga village.

Man sentenced for abducting minor
Nawanshahar, February 21
District and Sessions Judge, GS Sra sentenced Lakhbir Singh alias Giani of Sangewal village (Jalandhar) to five years imprisonment for abducting a minor girl of Poonia village. The sentence was announced within a month of the framing of charges against the accused.

The Bulhowal police last evening arrested Surinder Singh of Dhamian Kalan and seized 30 gm heroin from him. According to the police, while patrolling in the area of Badowal village, it intercepted Surinder Singh and on his search it seized 30 gm heroin from him. A case was registered. — OC

With the reporting of one more case of confirmed swine flu in the Civil Hospital, the number of such patients have gone to two.

Dr Anil Mahindra, Senior Medical Officer of the Civil Hospital, said here today that after getting conducting tests on Laxmi Devi's husband Gian Chand of Muksoospur, it was found that he was also suffering from swine flu. His wife Laxmi Devi, who had been suffering from the same disease, was already admitted to the isolated ward of the hospital on February 18. Preventive treatment to other family members of Gian Chand's family was being given as a precautionary measure.

3 booked for dowry demand

According to the police, Sonika Saini stated that she was married to Gobind Singh on December 10, 2010. All the accused used to torture and maltreat her for bringing dowry from her parents since her marriage. — OC

The Dasuya police has booked three persons of a family of Darapur bypass, Tanda, under Sections 363, 366 A and 120 B of the IPC for abducting a teenaged girl of Kanga village.

According to the police, Gian Singh of Kanga, alleged that Raju, his sister Sarabjit Kaur and mother Surjit Kaur, all of Darapur bypass, Tanda, had abducted his teenaged daughter Parmjit Kaur on February 20 by alluring her with the promise of marriage. Gian Singh stated that Sarabjit Kaur was studying with his daughter in Khalsa College, Dasuya, in Class XI.

Man sentenced for abducting minor

Nawanshahar, February 21
District and Sessions Judge, GS Sra sentenced Lakhbir Singh alias Giani of Sangewal village (Jalandhar) to five years imprisonment for abducting a minor girl of Poonia village. The sentence was announced within a month of the framing of charges against the accused.

The Banga police had registered a case under relevant sections of the IPC against Giani on September 3 last year, on the complaint lodged by Rajesh Kumar, brother of the victim. The police arrested the accused on November 16 and charges were framed in the court against him on January 25.
