Jalandhar, February 10
Criticising the SAD-BJP government for adopting an indifferent attitude towards Dalits, the Sri Guru Ravidas Foundation has said the Guru Ravidas chairs set up at Guru Nanak Dev University and Panjab University are lying unused due to the paucity of funds.

“No one seems to be concerned about these chairs. It was Guru Ravidas, who had shown us the path of equality. As the chairs were not in use, the research on the life and works of Guru Ravidas has been hampered,” said Chaudhary Jagjit Singh, a former Punjab minister and chairman of the foundation while deliberating at the 10th international seminar on the life, works and teachings of Guru Ravidas at Guru Ravidas Bhavan here today.

Scholars including, Dr Jasbir Singh Sabar, Shri Ram Arsh, Tarsem Sagar, SS Virdi also highlighted the relevance of his teachings in contemporary world. “His teachings are still relevant for the welfare of the humanity,” they said in their papers.
