Five persons died in different incidents during the last 24 hours in Moga district. Yesterday, a man identified as Darshan Singh was crushed to death under tractors at Mallianwala village.

To protest against the police, members of the joint action committee, formed to seek justice for Shruti and her family, observed Black Divali in Faridkot yesterday. 

Shop gutted in Fazilka
Fazilka, November 14
A grocery shop belonging to a wholesale firm, Madan Lal Krishan Lal, was gutted in the local Waan Bazaar area, with goods like ghee and sugar, worth several lakhs, perishing in the flames. The building in which the shop is located, was also damaged to some extent.

Five killed in different incidents

Moga, November 14
Five persons died in different incidents during the last 24 hours in Moga district. Yesterday, a man identified as Darshan Singh was crushed to death under tractors at Mallianwala village.

In the second incident, Jaswinder Singh, a resident of Gholia Khurd who worked as a granthi in a local gurudwara, died in a road accident while on way to Jagraon last night. His motorcycle was hit by an unknown vehicle.

A 50-year-old man, identified as Hardwari Lal, said to be mentally depressed, allegedly committed suicide by jumping before a train.

At nearby Ghal Kalan village, a youth Rajinder Kumar died under mysterious circumstances at his residence. The suicide angle is being explored by the police as he reportedly did not have good relations with his wife.

In another incident, Deepak Kumar alias Gopi, a resident of New Town area, allegedly died under mysterious circumstances on the premises of the district hospital here. Police said his body was found under a tree and he could have died due to cold weather.

Kidnapping incident casts its shadow on Divali in Faridkot

Faridkot, November 14
To protest against the police, members of the joint action committee, formed to seek justice for Shruti and her family, observed Black Divali in Faridkot yesterday. 

Many Divali greeting cards, exchanged in the town, contained negative feelings about the state police, accusing it of shielding the accused"All the 31 members of the action committee did not light any lamp to express displeasure over the kidnapping,” said Swarn Singh, a member of the joint action committee. — TNS

Minor fire incidents in Muktsar: Two minor fire incidents took place in the district. The first incident took place at Maal Godaam road in Malout where garbage suddenly caught fire. Another incident was reported at a house in Bhullar village. No loss of life or property took place. — TNS
