Meeting reviews dengue incidence

A meeting of health authorities in the vector-borne diseases, especially dengue and malaria, was held today. Additional deputy commissioner Rajiv Prashar presided over the meeting.

Health officer Dr Randhawa said that for the last two years people have been battling the spread of dengue.

However, this year, the situation is under control as the health department collaborated with the municipal corporation and charted out strategy for preventing dengue.

In October last year, 447 dengue case were reported, whereas till now only five dengue cases have been reported in 2012 so far. "We cannot adopt any laxity or slow down the pace of working against spreading of dengue. Continuous efforts need to be made to ensure that dengue does not spread its tentacles," he added.

He said that dengue conformation test is conducted free of cost at the civil hospital. Officials of the various departments were asked to follow the issues listed in agenda

District health officer Dr RS Randhawa, district malaria officer Dr Ashok Monga, senior medical officers of all the blocks, officials from municipal corporation, water supply and sewer department, PWD, agriculture, animal husbandry, PRTC, NFL, Guru Nanak Dev Thermal Plant, NGOs and that from civil surgeon office participated in the meeting.
