It's a welcome step, says industry

Trade between India and Pakistan through the Attari-Wagah land route is expected to get a major boost from next month with the two countries agreeing to dismantle the negative list for trade between them.
The local industry is happy and has given the thumbs up to the decision.
As against the permission to trade in just 137 items through this route, the number of items that can be traded in the future is expected to go up to 6,000.
Three girls feared drowned

Three minor girls belonging to migrant families are feared to have drowned in the Sirhind canal at Sehjo Majra village near Machhiwara town in the district late last evening. The girls had gone to take a dip in the canal on the occasion of the Jeetia Parn festival.

Two held with opium, poppy husk

The Jagraon police has arrested two drug peddlers in separate incidents and seized 2.5 kg of opium and 30 kg of poppy husk from their possession. The accused have been identified as Baljinder Singh of Kular village near Gurusar Sudhar and Chotta Singh of Ramghar Bhullar village near
