Three dupe youths by selling job dreams in Gulf
Tribune News Service

New Delhi, October 5
Three persons have been arrested for allegedly cheating several youths on the pretext of arranging jobs for them in Libya and Gulf countries.

The accused have been identified as Shiv Kumar Saini (35), Shiv Kumar (26) and Fanni Malik (30). The police said the racket had been running for the past five to six years. They used to charge somewhere between Rs 1,30,000 and 1,60,000 for each job. A total of 125 passports, passport applications and medical certificates have been recovered from the accused.

According to the police, Shiv Kumar Saini is the kingpin of the racket. He had a number of agents across the country working for him. These agents used to bring people looking for jobs to Saini and take commission in return. Fanni Malik was one such agent.

The gang was busted after an FIR was filed at the Paharganj police station against Fanni Malik who had allegedly taken Rs 50,000 from the complainant as advance for arranging a job for him, but did not do so. He also refused to refund the advance.

“Malik was found staying in Shyam Guesthouse at Paharganj. On interrogation, he revealed that he worked as an agent for Saini and lured unemployed youths on the pretext of sending them abroad for jobs,” said Devesh Chandra Srivastav, additional commissioner of police, central district.

Malik told the police that the racket was being run by Shiv Kumar Saini and Shiv Kumar. “Malik’s role was to lure unemployed persons from rural areas for jobs abroad and send them to Saini. Shiv Kumar Saini and Shiv Kumar were apprehended from the Royal Prince Hotel in Paharganj. It was learnt that the two had an office in the Una district of Himachal Pradesh,”added Srivastav.
