CM’s convoy involved in accident, Dikshit safe
New Delhi, September 26
Four police constables and a government official were injured today in an accident that happened when Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit's convoy was breached by a cyclist in the Bhajanpura area of northeast Delhi. The Chief Minister was with the convoy at the time of the accident, but escaped unhurt, according to sources in the Delhi government.

320 regularised colonies to get nod for sale
New Delhi, September 26
The Delhi government today decided in principal to open the registration of land, sale and purchase deed in 320 colonies regularized earlier this month. The orders in respect of these colonies will be issued in a day or two. These colonies have come up on the private land.

Woman dies, her baby injured as truck hits car

A 27-year-old woman was killed and her one-and-a-half year-old daughter was injured when the car they were traveling in was hit by a speeding truck in Chhawla, today.

6-year-old raped
New Delhi, September 26
A six-year-old girl, who had gone out of her house to attend a Ganpati puja in a nearby pandal, has been allegedly raped by an unknown person in the Naraina area, the police said today.

DJB waives late payment surcharge
New Delhi, September 26
The Delhi Jal Board today waived the surcharge on late payment of water and sewerage bills of domestic consumers. The consumers will be required to pay only the current charges.

Book on govt schemes for minorities

Delhi PWD Minister Rajkumar Chauhan today released a book "Step Forward" authored by the Delhi Minority Commission member Pushpinder Singh. The book contains valuable information on the government schemes meant for the minorities.

CM’s convoy involved in accident, Dikshit safe
Five hurt as cyclist breaches the entourage

Four police constables and a government official were injured today in an accident that happened when Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit's convoy was breached by a cyclist in the Bhajanpura area of northeast Delhi. The Chief Minister was with the convoy at the time of the accident, but escaped unhurt, according to sources in the Delhi government.

The mishap took place when Dikshit was going to Delhi Secretariat from Raj Niwas after attending the swearing-in ceremony of the Chief Justice of the Delhi High Court.

Five vehicles of the entourage were damaged.

According to a statement issued by the Delhi government, the accident took place when a cyclist, driving in the wrong direction, entered the entourage. To save the cyclist, the driver of one of the vehicles abruptly applied the brakes and the cars behind rammed into it.

Four constables and an official with Delhi Secretariat sitting in the vehicles received minor injures. They were rushed to Sushruta Trauma Centre in Kashmere Gate and discharged after treatment.

Sources at the hospital said two fingers of the official were fractured and they were fixed with a splint.

"A constable had an injury in an ear and got stitches. The rest three constables had received minor injuries and were treated," sources added.

Dikshit has expressed concerns about those injured and instructed the health department to provide them with proper treatment.

The police is not investigating the matter as no call was made to the police control room nor did anyone approach the Bhajanpura police station to lodge a case.

320 regularised colonies to get nod for sale

New Delhi, September 26
The Delhi government today decided in principal to open the registration of land, sale and purchase deed in 320 colonies regularized earlier this month. The orders in respect of these colonies will be issued in a day or two. These colonies have come up on the private land.

The decision was taken by Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit in the presence of UD Minister Arvinder Singh and Chief Secretary P. K. Tripathi at a meeting to review the functioning of the task force constituted to deal with the issues related to the recently authorized colonies.

The Chief Minister instructed the task force to expedite the issue of regularization of the remaining 570 colonies. It was decided that the colonies came up on gram sabha land would be processed

expeditiously for regularization and the residents of these colonies would also be able to get their land, sale and purchase deed registered soon.

She said that the process of regularization of the remaining colonies would be completed by January 2013.

She also instructed the civic bodies to expedite the finalization of layout plans, sanitation and cleanliness in respect of 895 regularized colonies. This work is to be completed by December 31.

The government has directed the municipal corporations to engage specialized agencies for this purpose. The expenses of engaging such agencies will be borne by the government. Dikshit stated that this would go a long way in providing basic amenities in these colonies.

Woman dies, her baby injured as truck hits car

New Delhi, September 26
A 27-year-old woman was killed and her one-and-a-half year-old daughter was injured when the car they were traveling in was hit by a speeding truck in Chhawla, today.

The police said that it received a call about the mishap at 9.15am. The victims were rushed to Rao Tula Ram Memorial Hospital, where the woman, identified as Nisha, was declared dead. Her daughter Mona is under observation.

Nisha lived in Jhuljhuli village in Najafgarh with her businessman husband Subhash. She and Mona were going to meet a relative in their Maruti WagonR car when the accident took place around 9 am.

"As they reached near Ghummankheda Road, a speeding truck hit their car from behind," said the police.

A case has been registered against unknown persons at the Chhawla police station. The charges are of rash driving and causing death by negligence under Sections 279 and 304A of the Indian Penal Code.

The truck has been impounded by the police and a search has been launched to nab its driver.

6-year-old raped

A six-year-old girl, who had gone out of her house to attend a Ganpati puja in a nearby pandal, has been allegedly raped by an unknown person in the Naraina area, the police said today.

According to a police official, an FIR has been lodged, but the accused is yet to be nabbed. The police has prepared a sketch of the accused with the help of the inputs given by the victim.

"The victim lives in the Naraina area along with her parents. Her father works with a private firm. She had gone to a Ganpati puja pandal in the area. While on her way back home, a man took her to a park on the pretext of taking her home. There, he allegedly raped her and threatened her not to talktell anyone about it or he will kill her. Scared, the girl did not tell anyone about her ordeal on that day. But a day after, the girl fell ill and she narrated the incident to her family," said the police official.

The official said that the father of the victim then approached the police, who with the help of some NGO workers, recorded the the victim’s statement . A sketch of the accused has been prepared and circulated in the area.

"The girl is undergoing treatment. Doctors say that she will have to undergo an operation,” said the police official.

DJB waives late payment surcharge

The Delhi Jal Board today waived the surcharge on late payment of water and sewerage bills of domestic consumers. The consumers will be required to pay only the current charges.

Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit who is chairperson of the DJB said that to provide relief to the consumers, it had been decided to waive the late payment surcharge in the arrears for domestic consumers. This would reduce the individual arrears substantially.

She made this announcement at a meeting of the MLAs who were called to explain the problems of water supply in their assemblies.

She said that the DJB would organize special camps across Delhi to resolve billing issues for the next two months. The dispute resolution committees will be set up under zonal revenue officers to organize the camps. The committees will be authorized to resolve the disputes on the spot.

Dikshit has instructed the DJB to install a notice board outside the offices of revenue officers, stating the days and information on the settlement of arrears and waiving the late payment surcharge.

Releasing the book, the Minister said that this is a great service to the people who are not aware of the policies formulated by the Centre and the state governments for the welfare of the minorities.
