Notice of motion to Punjab, Haryana, UT

Claiming that the police and the administration were not serious in dealing with eve-teasing and the menace was attaining the proportions of an ‘epidemic’, a Zirakpur resident today moved the Punjab and Haryana High Court seeking initiation of ‘positive steps’ to ensure the safety of women and girl students.
Services of ‘eve-teaser’ Home Guards volunteer terminated

Sending a strong message, the Chandigarh Police today terminated the services of a Home Guards volunteer against whom a complaint of eve-teasing was made by one of the students of the Postgraduate Government College for Girls, Sector 11, during an interaction with the UT SSP on Thursday.
Panchkula in grip of dengue fever
Panchkula, September 28
Nine confirmed cases of dengue fever and 25 suspected cases of swine flu were reported in the town in the past one week.
"Cases of dengue fever surface in August, September and October. Most of the patients suffering from these diseases are children as they have less immunity," said a senior doctor at General Hospital.
Sandeep enters senate with maximum votes
Chandigarh, September 28
After much delay, the result for three out of the 15 seats of the Panjab University Senate under the graduates constituency was declared today. Sandeep Kumar, District Education Officer of Fazilka, emerged as a winner with maximum number of votes polled for him.

Training in e-governance

A two-day training programme on e-Governance for the UT officials concluded at a SPIC centre here today.
Organised under the National e-Governance Plan, the session was first in a series of activities planned to sensitise various departments about the benefits of information and communication technology (ICT) in ensuring transparency, and timely and hassle-free delivery of services to the citizens.

Gold-plated paintings of deities are catching visitors’ fancy at the first-of-its-kind Thai Festival that kicked off at the Himachal Bhawan, Sector 28,
on Wednesday.
These Thai paintings plated with 24-caret pure gold range from Rs 3,500 to as high as Rs 3.23 lakh.

Know about city through mobile application

UT Adviser KK Sharma today launched Chandigarh City Guide, an application for smartphones and tabs.
As per the UT officials, this is the first mobile application in the Northern region developed by the Administration or any government department. The launch of mobile application is a part of the Tourism Week celebrations in Chandigarh.
