Official suspended for graft
: The Punjab Government on Friday suspended the Joint Director, Skill Development Cell of Technical Education, Jagjit Singh, on charges of corruption, an official press release said. The spokesperson for the government said a departmental inquiry had been initiated against Jagjit Singh.

Sarpanch suspended for embezzlement
: : Gurmeet Kaur, sarpanch of Lakho Ke Behram village, Mamdot block, has been suspended on charges of embezzlement of welfare funds. Sources said Amrik Singh, District Development and Panchayat Officer (DDPO), had earlier sent a detailed report on the alleged misappropriation of funds meant for Indira Awas Yojna (IAY) by the sarpanch to the Director Rural Development.

Man held with 10-kg poppy husk
: The Lambi police arrested a narcotics smuggler, Balkaran Singh of Bathinda, with 10-kg poppy husk from Mandi Killianwali, near the Punjab-Haryana border, on Friday. The accused was intercepted with the narcotics during routine checking by the police. A case under various sections of the NDPS Act has been registered against the accused.

Toll plaza man shot at, Rs 1 lakh looted
:Ateet Kumar, 23, an employee at the Badshahpur toll plaza on the Gurgaon-Alwar highway, was today shot at and allegedly looted of Rs 1 lakh. Kumar, who was immediately rushed to a hospital, is stated to be out of danger. While robbery appears to be a reason for the ‘attack’, the police is also probing the angle of rivalry between nearby villages of Ramgarh and Rithoj.
Residents of the two villages have literally been on a war for the jobs at the toll plaza.

Hisar:
Hisar trader gets ransom note
A trader operating from the local Auto Market has received a ransom note by post asking him to pay Rs 5 lakh failing which his son will be killed. The two-page note arrived said the place where the ransom was to be delivered would be intimated by SMS after three days. The sender of the note identified himself as “Hatyara”. The police has registered a case.The incident has caused left the business community scared.

Negi heads HC bar association
:Bipin Chander Negi was today elected as the president of the Himachal Pradesh High Court Bar Association.He defeated Trilok Chauhan in the election for which voting was held during the day. Neelkamal Sharma was elected as the vice-president in a triangular contest defeating Rita Goswami and SD Gill. Malay Kaushal was elected as the general secretary. He defeated his nearest rival Dhruv Shaunik. The returning officer for the election was BS Attri and Kiran Lata Sharma.
