60 students get placements:
As many as 60 students from IT courses have been selected by a world-renowned multinational company, Capgemini, through campus recruitment at Guru Nanak Dev University. Dr Hardeep Singh, professor in charge, Placements, said the selected students were from 2013 batch of B.Tech, computer science; B.Tech, electronics; MCA and M.Tech hailing from all there campuses i.e. Amritsar, Jalandhar and Gurdaspur. He said officials of the company conducted rigorous rounds of aptitude test, group discussion and interview for the selection.

Chain snatcher held
: The police has arrested a woman chain snatcher Balwinder Kaur of Kalyan Majra district in Patiala from Jaurasi Kalan village on Sunday for snatching a gold chain from a girl. The stolen gold chain worth Rs 35,000 has been recovered from her possession.

Parivartan Rally: While addressing party workers’ meeting at Punjabi Dharamshala here on Sunday, INLD state president and former Haryana Transport Minister Ashok Arora called upon the party workers to participate in maximum number during the Parivartan Rally scheduled to be addressed by INLD supremo Om Prakash Chautala at the new grain market here on September 30.

Truckers threaten stir
: Bilaspur District Truck Operators Cooperative Society president Lekh Ram Verma and general secretary Raj Paul Gauttam today warned the Surface Transport Ministry and the National Highway Authority of India that they would start an agitation and gherao their officers in the state if steps were not taken to repair the damaged stretch of National Highway 21 between Barmana and Garamoda.
