Inter-state gang of looters busted
Khanna, September 16
In a major breakthrough, the Khanna police has claimed to have arrested five members (all relatives) of an inter-state gang of looters, comprising mostly women, and recovered a large quantity of gold ornaments and cash from their possession.

Abhinav’s family smells foul play

The family of Abhinav Sachdeva, who was found dead at a vacant plot near the Feroze Gandhi market yesterday, staged a protest at the civil hospital today and refused to take the body. They claim that Abhinav was murdered but according to the police, it is an accident. The members of his family and relatives have sought a probe in his death.

Punjab farmers to march to Delhi

The Bharti Kisan Union (BKU) will lead a massive march of Punjab farmers to Delhi on September 25 to lodge a protest against the "injustice" being inflicted upon the farmers by the Centre in terms of the hike in diesel prices, denial of relief package for crop losses caused by drought and uprooting of Punjab farmers from other states.

Pilot project on cancer detection launched

The state health
department has initiated a pilot project on early detection and treatment of cancer in Faridkot and adjoining districts.
This was stated by
principal secretary, health, Vinni Mahajan while addressing a monthly review meeting of the

3 run over by trains

Auto-rickshaw driver thrashes home guard

An auto-rickshaw driver was booked for beating a Punjab home guard personnel, Gurmeet Singh, on the Pakhowal Road today.
Gurmeet alleged that he stopped the auto-rickshaw driver, following which the driver got into an argument with him and thrashed him.
