One held with illicit liquor:
Police have arrested one person with three bottles of illicit liquor. Police said the accused, Najam Singh, Jinda Singh and four or five other unidentified persons, were booked. A case has been registered at the Nehianwala police station.

Ludhiana
Shivani tops in GNIMT
: The students of Guru Nanak Institute of Management and Technology, Gujarkhan Campus, Model Town, have achieved excellent results with 98.30 pass percentage. Shivani Mehta stood first in the exam with 91.5 per cent marks. Mehak Jain (91.2%) and Ramandeep Kaur Cheema (89.3%) secured second and third positions respectively. In all, 83 students scored more than 70 per cent marks in the examination, of which 20 students got more than 80 per cent marks.

PHAGWARA
World Brahmin conference: Local resident Principal KK Sharma will lead a delegation to take part in the 17th World Brahmin Conference to be held from July 6 to 8 at Los Angeles in the US. World Brahmin Federation, India Unit, chairman MR Sharma said delegates from 115 countries will attend the conference in which issues like reservation on merit, female foeticide, cultural differences, education and placements in the US besides atrocities on women in India will be discussed.

Cash recovered: The police has recovered cash, jewellery and valuables worth Rs 8 lakh from a female domestic servant. Anita had mixed some strong intoxicants in the food served to her employers at HUDA colony here and later fled with the booty a couple of days ago. It is learnt that the male accomplice of Anita who got employment posing as her husband was actually not her husband but member of a gang who conspired to loot the employers.

Old-age pensioners: The Social Justice and Empowerment Department has decided to provide an opportunity to all 3,688 old-age pensioners to prove their eligibility who were absent during the last survey and their names could not be included in the list of eligible beneficiaries . As many as eight teams had been constituted to conduct this survey. The BDPOs of all blocks, a Naib Tehsildar and an executive officer of the Municipal Council will be members of this team.

LPG cylinder blasts
: One of the victims of serial blasts of LPG cylinders at Kohand in the Gharaunda area on June 1 succumbed to his burn injuries at a private hospital on Sunday night. The deceased has been identified as Pramod (40). At least six persons were feared injured in the powerful serial blasts but they managed to flee and got themselves admitted in private hospitals at Karnal, Panipat and Delhi to avoid action for illegal activities.

Youth killed
: Ankit Gupta of the New Lakshman Colony here was killed when his motorcycle was hit by a private bus near Chhati Patshahi Gurdwara on Sunday evening. The police has registered a case in this connection.

Rewari
One held: The police conducted a raid at Gaurav Hotel in Chillarh village on Sunday and arrested its employee Anuj Kumar. The police also seized 300 gm of ‘ganja’ from him. Anuj revealed that the hotel owner, Surender Singh, was the main supplier of ‘ganja’. Both of them were booked under the NDPS Act. Anuj was produced in a local court on Monday, which remanded him to judicial custody.

Two arrested for cheating foreigner: Two youngsters Sachin Gupta, a local, and Surender, resident of Pauri, were arrested by the Kotwali police for duping a German citizen, Rolland, of his car, Rs 1 lakh cash and a few more articles. Rolland had been living in Baluganj for the past few years and did wood work in houses for a living. He had hired Sachin Gupta as a helper, who soon won his confidence. It was a few days ago that Gupta committed a theft of Rs 1 lakh in his house, which Rolland got to know but did not take action against the culprit when he pleaded before him. He then fired him from the job. A couple of days ago, Rolland left for Delhi. He parked his car at MDDA park. The culprit and his accomplice, who were keeping tab on his activities, stole his car from there. While driving away the car, the vehicle stalled due to some defect. The duo sold it's spare parts. Rolland informed the local police, who then trapped the accused and arrested them.

Man’s body found: The body of a man aged around 25-30 was recovered from Pipal Mandi railway track on Monday. The victim is understood to have fallen from a train and died on the spot.
