586 examined at camp: Ma Bhagwati Club in collaboration with Punarjot Eye Bank Society organised a free eye and dental check-up camp at Shri Lal Bahadur Shastri Public Senior Secondary School, Dhuri Line, Miller Ganj. As many as 586 patients were examined during the camp. While the Bharat Vikas Parishad Charitable Trust, an NGO, distributed artificial limbs and hearing aids among 38 persons. Ajay Sharma, member of the organisation, said they had also organised a polio-operation camp.

Cultural extravaganza: An annual prize distribution and cultural extravaganza of DCM Presidency School titled Euphoria-2012 was organised on the theme "Rishtey - A Call for Being Human". The theme aimed at highlighting the depleting strength of human relations in contemporary society. A dance-drama act was performed by students to depict the theme. Plays Yugantar, The Ganges and Mitti Da Moh were also staged.

Awarded: Best Educationist Award was given to Reena Gupta, principal of Sacred Soul Convent School, by International Institute of Education and Management, Delhi, at Indian Society of International Law, New Delhi, on Sunday.

Man crushed to death: Rajiv Arora, 27, resident of Machchi Bazar at Vasant Vihar, was crushed to death by a truck on the GMS road on Sunday. Arora tried to overtake the truck from wrong side and came across a heap of sand from where he slipped and came in front of the truck and died on the spot. His father Harish Arora ran a shop in the locality. Rajiv Arora was unmarried and worked with a private firm.

Cops told to be vigilant: SSP Neeru Garg held a meeting with Circle Officers, SHOs and senior inspectors directing them to be vigilant during the proceedings of the Vidhan Sabha session in the city on Monday. She asked them to keep an eye on suspected persons and not to allow the protesters to cross the barrier or disrupt the traffic or peace in 
the area.
