Fraud: Excise Dept employee booked
Tarn Taran: Satinder Kaur, resident of Amritsar and an employee of the Excise Department, has been booked under Section 420 of the IPC for cheating a resident of the town on the pretext of getting him recruitment in the department.

Youth shot at, injured

Tarn Taran, April 10
A youth, Karanbir Singh, resident of Hothian village, 30 km from here, was injured when a group of three youths of his rival group opened fire at him near Verowal village, 25 km from here, last evening.

The group leader, Gurpreet Singh, resident of Nagoke village, allegedly responsible for injuring Karanbir, earlier had a narrow escape in a firing at Khadur Sahib village, made by a group, led by Karanbir Singh, before the incident.

Eight youths of both the groups have been booked. The injured, Karanbir Singh, Yadwinder Singh and three other unidentified youths have been booked under Sections 307, 148 and 149 of the IPC and Sections 25, 27, 54 and 59 of the Arms Act by the Goindwal Sahib police. The Verowal police has registered a case under Sections 307 and 34 of the IPC against Gurpreet Singh of Nagoke village and his two other accomplices for firing at and injuring Karanbir Singh.

Karanbir has been admitted to a hospital in Amritsar where his condition is out of danger.

Fraud: Excise Dept employee booked

Tarn Taran: Satinder Kaur, resident of Amritsar and an employee of the Excise Department, has been booked under Section 420 of the IPC for cheating a resident of the town on the pretext of getting him recruitment in the department.

The complainant, Sarabjit Singh, resident of Focal Point here, told the police that Satinder Kaur took Rs 1 lakh from him for getting him job in the Excise Department three years ago.

She failed to get him job and started returning the money in instalments, but refused to return Rs 39,000.

The matter was investigated by Avtar Singh Sandhu, in charge of the Anti-Fake Travel Agent Cell of the district police.

The police said the accused was absconding. Raids were being conducted on her suspected hideouts.

House burgled

Batala: Thieves broke into a house in Golden Avenue here and too away 100 gm gold, Rs 30,000, LCD, two LPG cylinders, CD player, refrigerator and motorcycle from it today.

Sanjiv Kumar, owner of the house, had gone to Gurdaspur and when he returned, he found his house ransacked and thing stolen.

The police has started investigation.
