Golf camp: The Panchkula Golf Club in association with the state-run government schools will conduct a one-day golf camp on April 11 at the Panchkula Golf Club. The organisers have appointed a number of coaches to conduct a successful camp. A total of 120 amateur gofers are expected to take part in the one- day camp.
School
reunion: It’s never too late. The 1980 batch of Senior Model School, Sector 16, met after 32 years to celebrate their reunion. The event was organised at, Zirakpur.
Students from various parts of the country attended the function with their spouse and children. It was a great moment of joy for everybody who walked down the memory lane. They all felt like they are back in school. calling each other with their school nicknames. The children were curious to know from the teacher, how good or bad their parents were as a student in the
school.
Exchange
programme: Aashali Kalia, a student of Class X of SD Vidya School, Ambala Cantt, has been selected to represent India at the Japan-East Asia Network of Exchange for Students and Youth. The programme is an initiative taken by the Ministry of Human Resource Development (HRD) and Government of Japan. The students are selected from the CBSE and State Boards Schools. The principal of the school, Rupinder Saini, said Ashali had made the school proud.

Judicial custody: A local court on Tuesday remanded six inter-state gangsters involved in the looting of a WagonR here in 14-day judicial custody. The police has recovered the vehicle. The accused have been identified as Wasim, Eekram, Shakeel, Aslam (Bulandshehar), Jeetender Kumar ( Merut) and Gyananender Kumar (Aligarh). The police said they had taken away the vehicle in Sector 19 in the third week February after beating its owner, Pradeep Kumar, a resident of Rail Vihar. They had also taken away cash and the victim’s cellphone.Sirsa
EC poll: Dr Abhay Singh Godara, chairman of the Economics Department, and Dr Rani Devi, assistant professor of energy and environment science, have been elected to the Executive Council (EC) of Chaudhary Devi Lal University from the teachers’ constituency. While Godara received 31 votes Rani Devi got 25. Rani Devi is the first women to be elected to the EC.

In a bizarre incident reported from Lal Kuan in Nainital district, a man abandoned his 11-month daughter in a state of inebriation. The incident took place on late Sunday night. It is learnt that Girish Chandra Joshi of the Ghodanala area of Bindukhatta had gone out for a stroll after dinner and carried his daughter with him. However, he returned without the child. The police has launched a hunt for the child who is yet to be found.Motorcyclist run over by truck :
A youth was killed when his motorcycle was run over by a vehicle in Haldwani on late Monday evening. The incident took place on the Kaladhungi road. The deceased has been identified as 25-year Brij Mohan of Kamola village. He was going with a friend Dalip when the accident took place. Dalip sustained major injuries in the accident. Rs 20,000 : A case of a girl being duped of Rs 20,000 has come to light from Rudrapur in Udham Singh Nagar district. The complainant has charged that Amit Kumar of Khatauli in Muzaffarnagar district of Uttar Pradesh had taken Rs 20,000 from her for getting her employed in a private concern. She has also said the accused had taken her signatures of a blank paper and had prepared fake documents about her marriage with him. residents hold protest : Residents of the Dineshpur area of Udham Singh Nagar are agitated over the delay in provision of basic amenities in the houses built by the Nagar Panchayat authorities under the Jawahar Lal Nehru National Housing Scheme. They have accused Nagar Palika officials of harassing them. The residents went on to hold a demonstration on Monday. They charged that not even 50 per cent of the 120 houses proposed to be built under the scheme have been completed.Ex-serviceman ends his life :
An ex-serviceman ended his life after consuming poison at his home in Kashipur on Monday. It is learnt that 62-year Inder Singh Nainwal of Sainik Colony had a spat with his wife.
