Jalandhar, April 3
The Government Railway Police (GRP) has booked in-laws of a lab technician, who committed suicide by jumping before a train at the Ram Nagar railway crossing this morning.

The deceased, Varinder Kumar (35), worked as a lab technician in some private institute here.

Earlier, as the deceased was not identified, the police had initiated inquest proceedings under Sections 174 of the CrPC.

The deceased was identified after officials of the Division No 1 police station, where a complaint of lost person was submitted by some residents yesterday, came to identify the body along with the complainants.

A GRP official said the deceased’s brother Ashwani Kumar complained to the police that his brother had been living under tension due to a dispute with his in-laws and he took the extreme step due to this.

The police has booked his father-in-law Sardari Lal and mother-in-law Santosh Rani, residents of Maduban colony here, under Section 306 of the IPC for abetment to suicide.
