FCI workers demand regularisation of job
Tribune News Service

Jalandhar, March 17
Ahead of wheat harvest, members of the All India FCI Workers’ Union today staged a dharna at Grain Market here demanding regularisation of their jobs and hike in wages.

The workers, led by district president Hira Singh, said they were being paid just Rs 5,000 to Rs 5,500 for loading and unloading of grain sacks.

Paramjit Singh, a member, said nearly 450 workers for five depots had been employed on daily wage since 1995-96, but the office was not paying any heed to regularise their services.
